Shards of broken glass, once jagged and dangerous, loose their sharp edges, their glossy shine, through constant agitation in Cayuga Lake. Over time, they transform into matte, translucent jewels.
I am drawn to the metaphor of their alchemical journey. How did so much broken glass end up in the lake? How long does it take?
Cayuga Lake is surprisingly deep. The fossils, mixed in with the smooth shale pebble aggregate, are from the Devonian period, representing a completely different aquatic world.
I am inspire by this natural process that, over time, turns what is broken into treasure. It gives me hope, for myself, for all people, and for the planet.
