Fourth graders at Newfield Elementary school painted this series of murals with my assistance and that of their class room teachers. All the students researched and wrote about events in New York State and local Newfield history, as well as US history, and the pre-history of the land that is now called New York. They made drawings of particular events and themes, transferred their drawings to the walls, and painted them. They held a party to celebrate the completion of their work and invited parents and community members. They sang songs at the opening that related to the history they had been painting. They also invited third graders on tours of their work and explained their process to them.
